At Dearborn Dance Academy, we focus on strong foundations, expressive movement, and a supportive, non-competitive environment.
Our instructors are made up of experienced and passionate dance professionals who are dedicated to helping our students achieve their goals. We work together to provide a supportive and nurturing environment where our students can thrive.
We offer a variety of classes for dancers ages 3 and up, taught in a supportive environment that balances technique, creativity, and personal growth.
At Dearborn Dance Academy, we believe that dance is for every body and every stage of life. Our goal is to provide high-quality, age-appropriate instruction in a supportive and non-competitive environment where every student feels welcome.
We emphasize strong technical training while nurturing creativity, discipline, and a genuine love for movement. Through consistent instruction and performance opportunities, dancers build confidence, grow artistically, and develop life skills that extend beyond the studio.
Rooted in tradition and guided by a passion for the arts, our studio is more than a place to dance, it’s a place to belong.
Dearborn Dance Academy was founded in 1991 by Patricia Damian Mortens, who began her training at Pamela’s School of Dance. With a deep background in classical ballet and a passion for teaching, Patricia transformed the studio into a space where dancers of all ages can grow in technique, artistry, and confidence. Today, the academy continues a legacy of over 40 years of dance education in the Dearborn community.

Over the years, she has studied and taught ballet, tap, jazz, and gymnastics, and now leads our gymnastics program with the same energy and care she brings to every class.
Amber has been with DDA longer than any other instructor, and her impact is felt in every corner of the studio. She has taught hundreds of students—many of whom still remember her as their very first teacher. Her classes are known for being high-energy, positive, and always filled with encouragement.
Beyond the studio, Amber has worn many hats. She holds multiple Zumba certifications—including Zumba, Zumba Toning, Zumba Kids, and Zumba Gold—and spent years starting and coaching cheer programs in local Dearborn schools.
Though she eventually “retired” from cheerleading to begin a full-time career with Ford Motor Company, her passion for teaching never left.
Amber’s story came full circle as she shared the studio with her daughter, a second-generation DDA dancer and instructor.
Her lifelong connection to the studio, her students, and the community make her a truly special part of the DDA family.
